STORM DEBRIS REMOVAL - The removal of hazardous storm related debris from public property (rights of way) will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4, 2005, in the City of Orange. Residents should not wait to place debris at the curbside or on the public right of way; place it as soon as possible. To ensure that storm debris will be picked up, residents are encouraged to take the following steps: Debris removal shall be limited to storm related debris which presents a health and safety hazard, such as trees, branches, storm damaged construction debris, etc...Place all storm debris at the curb or in the public right of way. Do not block the street. Construction debris (boards, metal, glass, etc...) and loose vegetative debris should be placed in separate piles. The debris collection process will be completed by large construction type equipment not by hand. Loose leaves and small twigs will not be picked up in this process. This debris will need to be bagged and picked up by your normal trash collection. Keep all debris piles away from fire hydrants and valves, fences, mailboxes, power lines, etc... Debris will not be picked up from any privately maintained roads. Don’t rely on our personnel to remove debris from locations other than curbside or public right of ways. This process will start in the City of Orange and work its way out through the rest of the County. If you have any questions regarding debris removal services, please contact us at 409-883-1081, from 8-5/M-F.

Forces of Nature
Rita can tear down the material things in life.
She can cause us to flee her wrath.
But while her destruction is swift and certain,
What she leaves behind is a new journey, a new path.

She cannot take our future or our resolve.
Indeed, a unity of purpose has awoken.
Because, of all the forces of nature,
The spirit of mankind will not be broken.
